What makes a good Spanish teacher great?

Hello, my name is Macarena and I am from Argentina. I am interested in reading, listening to music, and spending time with my friends and family. I love nature and I believe you can learn something new every single day, that is why I consider my everyday life an adventure. I have my Bachelor of Science in Communication and I finished a Diplomacy in Shakespearean Literature last summer. I am currently working on Master's degree in Education. I have been helping students with their English since I started college and I love everything about it. I have mostly taught private classes for secondary students with IGCSE exams in History and Language, TOEFLs and FCEs. But, I have also worked at a school giving Theatre, Lost Tools of Writing, Writing and Rhetoric, Literature seminars and English for Kindergarteners. At present, I am also working in an online platform where I help adults with their English grammar and pronunciation.

I try to make my students reach their best, so my methodology changes depending on with whom I am working. I find it satisfying when we are able to shape the class in a way we both find enjoyable!

También me gusta mucho disfrutar y admirar la naturaleza. Actualmente, estoy aprendiendo a tocar la guitarra y quiero aprender mi tercer idioma. Creo que nunca es tarde para aprender algo nuevo, ya que aprender cosas nuevas es súper beneficioso para todos a cualquier edad. Además, soy fanática de los animales, especialmente perros y gatos, quienes son mis mayores compañeros. Soy profesora de inglés, y lo que más me gusta de mi profesión es que es un trabajo súper gratificante. No solo cuando mis alumnos logran algún objetivo, sino también por el vínculo que te permite crear con ellos. Me gusta ver la educación como un proceso holístico, donde para aprender o enseñar algo nuevo, es necesario considerar al alumno con sus emociones, necesidades, gustos y disgustos; es decir, considerarlo como un todo. Creo que, aparte de aprender, es crucial que mis alumnos disfruten su proceso de aprendizaje. Por ello, cuando planifico mis clases, me gusta incluir actividades divertidas que son relevantes para el contexto inmediato de mis alumnos, y así puedan aprender de forma significativa. ¡Mantenerlos motivados para querer seguir aprendiendo cosas nuevas es un gran desafío que estoy dispuesta a lograr!

Hello! My name is María Sarmiento. I am 23 years old and I am from Argentina! I am a curious, fun person who loves to make jokes and enjoys spending time with family and friends. I really enjoy spending time outdoors and admiring nature. I am currently learning to play the guitar and I want to learn my third language. I believe that it is never too late to learn something new, and that learning new things every day is extremely beneficial for anyone at any age. Also, I am a fan of animals, especially cats and dogs, who are my main buddies.

I am an English and Spanish teacher and what I love about being a teacher is that it is an extremely gratifying job. Not only when your students achieve something, but also because of the bond teaching allows you to create with them. I like to see education as a holistic process, where in order to learn a new language it is necessary to consider the student's needs, background, likes, dislikes, preferences and emotions; that is, we need to consider them as a whole. I think that, apart from learning, it is crucial for students to enjoy the learning process. That is why I love to include fun activities that are relevant to their immediate context when planning my classes for them to learn in a way that is meaningful for them. All students are different, so I also believe it is necessary to constantly adapt my teaching practices in order to keep their motivation at its highest!
